I'm curious how other listeners feel about station identification messages by the artists. Sometimes, KEXP plays one by a single artist; sometimes, they play a pastiche of several artists speaking their own names.
Are you neutral on this, or do you have a feeling about them?
Personally, the long string of people speaking their names annoys me enough to change the station (I know, I know, "To what, Gary?") or mutter under my breath, depending on my mood.

Re: Station identification by the artists
Sun, January 11, 2004 - 3:51 PMHey Gary,
I hate those too. There's something generic and somewhat cheesy about them, particularly when there are 50 people in a row! It's too reminiscent of the corporate stations. -

Re: Station identification by the artists
Sun, January 11, 2004 - 4:34 PMyeah, I find it a bit painfully earnest too.
like "we're popular!! look how many friends we have!"
"you like me, ,you really like me!!"
please, just identifiy the frequency and be done with it!
(although I do have to admit liking the movie dialog snippets they play on KBTC sometimes. my dad listens to that station.)
